TOKAI is the only lens manufacturer using neuroscience to create bespoke progressive lens designs. TOKAI in conjunction with a leading neurological research company, developed a special type of eyetest that measures the stress and discomfort of the brain while wearing progressive lenses.
The measuring and analysis of brain waves has led to the development of revolutionary progressive lens designs that are easy to adapt to and that reduce the amount of discomfort experienced by the brain. This dramatically increases the wearer comfort.
TOKAI’s No Reflection Coating (NRC) reduces reflections on the lenses to a minimum, providing a natural look and clearly visible eyes. NRC can be further enhanced with an additional digital filter to reduce the negative effects
of blue light.
The needs of progressive lens wearers are rapidly changing, and users require wide and clear vision at hand range distance due to the use of digital devices”. The new Energy design combined with a shallower 9mm corridor provides natural comfortable eye movement through the length of the lens. This enables a more ergonomic head position while using digital devices.
As long as the eye can rotate within the vertical angle of 20°, the head remains in a natural position. Once over 20°, the head is automatically tilted backwards. This is not an ergonomic posture. The new Energy design combined with a 9mm corridor enlarges the hand distance vision range. Therefor the eye rotation remains within 20° and the head remains in an ergonomic position.
The Back Surface progressive lenses simultaneously assimilate progression zone, asphericity and power to the back side of the lens.
This concept offers a superior optical solution, while maintaining a perfectly smooth spherical surface.
There are 2 freeform progressive lenses with a so called ‘square design’ : NWS and Sereno.
NWS offers the widest field of vision and the least distortions among the freeform progressive lenses. This performance is achieved thanks to the biaspheric design and progression on both surfaces, combined with the Neo Wide Area design. Aberrations are reduced by up to 21% compared to traditional aspherical progressive, and distributed to maximize the far and near vision, while ensuring a smooth intermediate progression.
EASYONE combines the revolutionary Digitech-Core 5 design engine with a progressive and aspheric back curve providing a wide panoramic view and an easy adaptation to the design. This new DIGITECH-CORE 5 algorithm was developed to minimize aberrations and distortions, thus providing a more natural vision.
EasyOne also allows a very high degree of customization thanks to the ACTIVE MODE design which considers, to improve the optical and aesthetic performance of the lenses, also the wrap angle of the frame and the curved front base.
It offers a selection of 8 front curves to provide the best match to the patients chosen frame.
The main benefit of this TOKAI’s premium ‘square design’ progressive lens is a wide intermediate and reading field, without the visual constraint of narrow distance vision.
Sereno has a back surface aspheric & progressive design and a spherical front curve. Comfortable panoramic far vision is achieved by ergonomic human eye analysis. Aberrations are pushed outside of the limited static visual field of 30 degrees around the eye point of the lens.
